Monsanto Distributes Opportunity Scholarships

Four Midwestern Ontario students are among the 66 winners of Opportunity Scholarships from the Monsanto Fund.

Each of the scholarships is worth 15 hundred dollars.

Applicants need to be grade 12 graduates from farm families who are enrolled in a first year degree or diploma agriculture-related program this fall at a recognized Canadian educational institution.

The local winners are Tyler Dietrich of Desboro, Mariann Lobbezoo of Berkeley, Cassandra Vickers of Meaford and Genna Wright of Kenilworth.

The Monsanto Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company.

It's mandated to strengthening the communities where farmers and Monsanto Company employees live and work.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
