Will U-S-Developed Soil Test Work In Ontario?

Grain Farmers of Ontario wants to know if a soil test developed in the U-S is applicable in Ontario.

The test was developed by the USDA's Doctor Rick Haney.

According to GFO, the test has potential because it's relatively cheap and commercially available.

GFO also says there is currently no certified Ontario soil health test and a lot of debate over the best soil health indicator in the province.

So the grain growers organisation is funding Doctor Laura Van Eerd of the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus to evaluate the Haney test for Ontario, using long term field trials.

That project runs through to March of 2018.
