Canadian Sustainable Beef Production Indicators In The Works

The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef is making progress on a framework for producing and sourcing verified sustainable beef within the value chain.

The group says it's a two-part framework - indicators and verification.

A CRSB committee has reached a consensus on the first set of indicators for primary producers.

Now the committee is working on indicators for the other parts of the entire value chain.

That update was part of the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef's recent annual meeting in Saskatchewan.

The Roundtable represents over 55 organisations covering all aspects of the Canadian beef value chain.

It's task is to advance existing and new sustainability efforts within the beef industry.
