Oxford Producer Shares 2015 Pork Congress Award

This year's Ontario Pork Congress' Industry Leadership Award is being shared by two men.

The award recognizes people in the industry who give freely of their time to provide distinguished service to the Ontario pork industry.

Oxford County producer John DeBruyn and the University of Guelph's Doctor Kees DeLange tied in this year's voting.

DeBruyn is president of the Oxford County Pork Producers, has been very involved in the Ontario Pork Congress and is in the OFA Oxford County Hall of Fame.

Doctor DeLange is described as having dedicated his whole life to the improvement of the pork industry.

He's served on a variety of committees , boards and meeting organizing groups.

The two were recognised at the recent Ontario Pork Congress Annual General Meeting.

Another award was handed out at that meeting - the Lyle Heldmann Award for 'grace under pressure'

That goes annually to a participant in the OPC Bacon Maker Classic.

This year it went to Dawson Howling of New Dundee - a third generation competitor in the live show.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
