Essex Farmer Wins National Pollinator Award

A national award for pollinator protection has gone to an Essex County farmer.

David Ainslie is the recipient of this year's Canadian Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Conservation Award.

The national award recognizes the contributions Canadian farmers make towards protecting pollinators and pollinator habitats.

Ainslie has incorporated his understanding of natural systems into his farm operations.

That includes designating some 40 acres of his Essex County land to natural areas.

According to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, Ainslie has proven that conservation efforts and conventional farming can work together.

The CFA partners with the Pollinator Partnership and the Canadian Forage and Grassland Association to present the Canadian Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Conservation Award each year.
