Huron-Bruce MPP Calls For Neonic Regulation Delay

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson wants the provincial government to halt the ban on neonic-treated seeds until it enacts the Environmental Commissioner's recommendations.

Those recommendations call for more Ontario-focused, science-based research into the use of neonics.

The recommendations were part of the ECO's Annual Report released this week.

Ontario's Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Glen Murray, responded to Thompson's question in the Legislature by pointing out last year's ECO Annual Report criticized the government for not taking action on the issue in the face of existing widespread research results.
