DFC: We Will Be Part Of TPP Compensation Consultation

A Dairy Farmers of Canada official is downplaying the impact of comments made by the new federal trade minister about TPP compensation for the dairy industry.

The Minister - Chrystia Freeland - said earlier this week the compensation package promised by the Conservatives was not a done deal at least partly because the government hasn't decided whether to approve the TPP.

A DFC official says they talked with government officials this week and have been assured it's all part of the due diligence involved in reviewing the 6 thousand page agreement.

She says Dairy Farmers of Canada has been assured they will be consulted when the government is ready to review the compensation package, and says DFC looks forward to being part of that process.
