Some Resolutions Passed At OFA Meeting

Ontario Federation of Agriculture delegates passed a number of resolutions this morning.

A resolution from Dundas Federation of Agriculture called for the OFA to provide personnel and monetary support for the International Plowing Match.

The Federation reduced it's IPM presence in 2013, based on the argument that the event was better suited for organisations geared to agricultural education such as OAFE and Farm and Food Care. Delegates supported the Dundas resolution, which suggested the thousands of non-farmers attending the IPM provides the OFA with a chance to present the views of farming to an otherwise disengaged audience.

Another resolution would see the Federation lobby the MNR to incorporate biosecurity measures for conservation officers who are entering farm properties. That came from the Algoma Federation of Agriculture.

Other resolutions from various county federations will be dealt with over the next day and a half of the OFA`s annual meeting.
