U of G Offering Incentives To Grow Graduate Studies Programs

The University of Guelph has launched a new initiative to draw top student researchers to the University.

The 1 point 5 million dollar annual scholarship program will provide doctoral and masters scholarships.

The doctoral awards will be worth 30 thousand dollars each per year.

The Masters will be worth 15 thousand per year each.

The University's Charlotte Yates says Guelph has a strong desire to encourage growth in it's graduate studies programs, both in numbers and in the quality of research produced.

The awards will be shared among Guelph's seven colleges.

Most of the criteria for awarding them will be set by the colleges themselves.

The University's other graduate student research initiatives include more money for recruitment and research support for academic units.
