Slomp Returned As NFU National President

Jan Slomp is back as president of the National Farmers Union.

Slomp was acclaimed to the presidency at the NFU's annual national meeting in London on the weekend.

His executive was also acclaimed.

That includes Hilary Moore as 1st Vice-President on policy, Coral Sproule as Women's President and Ayla Fenton as NFU Youth President.

Moore, Sproule and Fenton are all from Ontario.

Toby Malloy of Alberta is the NFU's Women's Vice-President for the coming year, Dana Penrice of Alberta NFU Youth Vice President and Glen Tait of Saskatchewan as 2nd Vice-President of Operations.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
