Manitoba Producer Returns As Pork Council Chair

Manitoba farmer Rick Bergmann has been re-elected chair of the Canadian Pork Council.

Ontario's Bill Wymenga was also returned as one of the CPC's vice-chairs at the organisations recent annual meeting in Ottawa.

Frank Novak from Alberta is the other vice-chair.

In his remarks to the annual meeting Bergmann pointed out the pork sector is the fourth largest source of farm cash receipts of any Canadian agricultural commodity.

He also reported that over 3 point 71 billion dollars worth of Canadian pork products were exported to 92 countries last year.

The Canadian Pork Council is a federation of nine provincial pork industry associations serving as the national voice for Canada's hog producers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
