U-S Corn Grower Tops 530 Bushels Per Acre

A couple of records set in this year's U-S National Corn Growers Association Corn Yield Contest.

One was a new all-time high yield of just over 532 bushels per acre.

That was set by a grower in Virginia.

The contest also had a record five national entries that topped the 400 plus bushel per acre mark.

All that compares to the projected U-S national average yield of 169 point 3 bushels an acre.

According to Statistics Canada, Ontario corn growers are expecting an average yield of just over 170 bushels an acre this year.

This was the 51st year for the U-S contest.

It attracted over 77 hundred entries.

National Corn Growers Association spokesman Brent Hostetler says the techniques contest winners first develop grow into broad advances that help farmers across the U-S excel in a variety of situations.
