Memory-Sharing Part Of GBFW 50th Anniversary This Week

While some of the panels at this year's Grey Bruce Farmers Week will be looking at the future of the industry, there will also be a lot of sharing of memories of the past as well.

This is the 50th anniversary of the agricultural event which has become a major social and educational event for farmers in the two counties and beyond.

A special video highliting some of the history of Grey Bruce Farmers Week will be run each day before lunch.

Spokesperson Lorie Smith says some of what went into that video comes from a gathering last summer of some of the people who've been involved in the event's history.

" Of course everybody was talking about Eugene Whelan and a couple of people who fell off stages and Andrew Barrie was reflecting about they should call it the Grey Bruce roast beef days because the meals are so great."

She says there will also be special door prizes and gifts for the speakers reflecting the 50th anniversary of the event.

Grey Bruce Farmers Week runs January 6th to the 12th at the Elmwood Community Centre.

Smith says some of what's on their celebration video came from a gathering of some of those involved in past events last June where they shared their memories.
