PED Diagnosed On Bruce County Farm

A Bruce County farrow to partial finish operation is the latest in the province with a confirmed PED diagnosis.

It's the first in over a month and a half - and only the second since July of last year.

The Bruce County confirmed diagnosis is the 86th for the province since the virus was first found in a Middlesex County hog operation in January of 2014.

PED can be up to 100 per cent fatal in nursing piglets, while older animals are better able to survive it.

The virus is not a danger to either human health or to food safety.
