High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

An Elmira man is getting one of Jersey Canada's national awards.
Tom Byers has been named the recipient of the organisation's Ralph J. Barichello Memorial Award.
The award is for outstanding long-term contributions to the agriculture industry in Canada with particular emphasis on the accomplishments made in 2015.
Three other Jersey Canada national awards are coming to Ontario.
Chris and Valerie Richardson of Caledonia are getting an Honourary Life Member award.
Jenny Butcher and Wes Kuntz of Mount Pleasant and Jon and Sandy Kingdon of Warwick Township have been named Jersey Young Achievers.
Those awards will be awarded at the upcoming Jersey Canada Annual General Meeting.
