Perth County Resident Wins Award

A Perth County resident is one of six recipients of a $1,000 educational award from Holstein Canada.

Derek Van de Walle was one of the recipients under Holstein Canada's young leader program.

The winners were chosen based on their farm work and experience, career choice, youth program involvement and scholastic achievements.

Other winners were from Corbyville, that's near Belleville, two were from Quebec, one from Nova Scotia and one from Manitoba.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
