Federal Money To Help Boost Beef Genetics Exports

The Canadian Beef Breeds Council is getting over 2 and a half million dollars from the federal government.

The money is earmarked for a market development strategy, international trade shows and trade missions.

The goal is to raise awareness of Canadian beef genetics.

Those projects will be aimed at expanding key markets, including the U-S, Mexico, Europe, China and Kazakhstan.

Council President Dave Bolduc says showcasing Canadian beef genetics should lead to new opportunities that directly contribute to the economic stability of the family farm.

Federal officials say over 32 million dollars worth of Canadian beef genetics were exported in 2015.
