Ontario's Dan Darling Moves Up To CCA Presidency

An Ontario farmer is the new president of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association.

Dan Darling runs a cow-calf operation with his brother in Northumberland County in Eastern Ontario.

He's a past president of the Beef Farmers of Ontario and has served two years as the CCA's Vice-President.

Dave Solverson moves to the Past President position.

Darling says he intends to keep up the Assocation's focus on trade.

That includes pushing for a bilateral trade deal with Japan and resolving longstanding technical barriers that have prevented the EU from approving Canada's main packing plants to export to Europe.

He'd also like to see movement towards having the industry-supported Cattle Implementation Plan accepted as the traceability business plan that best reflects the realities of cattle production in Canada.

British Columbia cattleman David Haywood-Farmer moves into the CCA's Vice-President's position vacated by Darling.
