Kosher Chicken Processing Gets CFO Approval

Chicken Farmers of Ontario has approved Premier Kosher's application to process kosher certified chicken.

According to CFO, Ontario has been without a kosher chicken processor for three years.

Chair Henry Zantingh says it's the culmination of effort on the part of farmers and industry to find a suitable business partner to own and operate an Ontario Kosher chicken rpcoessing plant.

Premier Kosher is a unit of the Premier Group of Companies - an integrated poultry growing, transporting and food processing firm.

The plant will be in Abingdon in the Niagara Region.

It will have an initial capacity of 50 thousand chickens a week and employ up to 80 workers.

Chicken Farmers of Ontario will now be working with Chicken Farmers of Canada for an allocation of additional supply to serve the province's kosher community.
