Food Safety On-Line Course In The Works

Safe Food Canada says it's developing an on-line course of particular interest to smaller and mid-sized food businesses.

The introductory food safety course will address what's called Preventive Control Plans.

According to Safe Food Canada, having a written Preventive Control Plan can increase food safety alignment with international standards.

SFC says that's especially important for food processing and packing facilities, food importers and exporters as well as those responsible for food safety .

Safe Food Canada CEO Brian Sterling says food safety has a clear impact on the reputation of a business and on how consumers trust those who produce our food.

The on-line course is being developed with the Food Processing Human Resources Council.

It's expected to be available this summer.
