Federal Funding For Green Ag Jobs For Youth

The federal government is putting up to 1 point 9 million dollars into an initiative to attract young people to green jobs in the agriculture and agri-food sector.

It's called the Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative.

It will help fund internships both on the farm and with organisations engaged in the agriculture and agri-food sector to help attract youth to green jobs.

Federal Agriculture and AgriFood Minister Lawrence MacAuley suggests hiring young people to implement environmentally beneficial activities on the farm and in the agriculture industry benefits the environment and helps grow the economy.

Agriculture and AgriFood Canada is one of 11 federal departments providing opportunities for Canadian youth under the Youth Employment Strategy.
