Holstein Canada Selects President, Vice-Presidents For 2016

A Quebecer is the new president of Holstein Canada.

Robert Chabot was elected at the organisation's first board meeting following it's recent annual general meeting in Alberta.

His vice-presidents are Orville Schmidt from Alberta and Harry Van der Linden of Nova Scotia.

Three Ontario families were recognised for 100 years of continuous membership with Holstein Canada at that AGM.

They were the Webb family of Roseneath, the Smith family of Port Perry and the Brown family of Fenwick.

CEO Ann Louise Carson reported registration levels were just shy of record levels in 2015 while the number of cows classified remained stable.

Holstein Canada reported a net, excess of revenues over expenses, of just over 97 thousand dollars on operating revenues of 11 point 6 million.

The 2016 National Holstein Show held along with the National Convention had 102 lots averaging just over 54 hundred dollars apiece.

A December 2015 heifer calf topped the sale at 50 thousand dollars.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
