USDA Forecasting Near-Record U-S Corn, Wheat Ending Stocks

The USDA is forecasting larger wheat and corn ending stocks for 2016-17, lower soybean stocks.

The department's latest WASDE report has U-S ending wheat stocks 51 million bushels higher than for the 2015-16 crop year.

It's forecasting corn ending stocks will be 350 million bushels higher.

If realized , both the corn and wheat ending stocks will be the highest since the mid 1980's.

The USDA is predicting 2016-17 ending soybean stocks will be 95 million bushels below the 2015-16 stocks.

The WASDE report puts the all-wheat season-average farm price at $3.70-$4.50 a bushel.

The mid-point of that range is the lowest in 11 years.

The season average corn price for 2016-17 is $3.05-$3.65, down 25 cents at the midpoint from the 2015-16 average.

And the U-S season-average soybean price for 2016-17 is expected to be between $8.35 and $9.85 a bushel, compared with the $8.85 per bushel average for 2015-16.
