Corn-Fed Sarnia Bio Plant Production Up Almost 300 Per Cent

BioAmber says sales of bio-succinic acid from its Sarnia plant were 1 point 5 million dollars in the first three months of this year.

That's up almost 300 per cent from the same period last year.

The plant uses corn as a feedstock for that acid.

Spokesman Jean-Francois Huc says they're now focussed on reaching full production capacity and selling the output of the plant.

He suggests higher oil prices could lead to greater demand for bio-based products in the second half of this year.

BioAmber's first quarter results included an Adjusted Net Loss Attributable to BioAmber Shareholders of 8 point 1 million dollars.

That's about half a million dollars less than for the same three month period last year.
