Ontario Auctioneer Among Top 5 In Canadian Competition

Ontarians did well at the Canadian Auctioneering Championships in Brussels.

Ab Carroll of Cookstown came in fourth, and Brussels auctioneer Kevin McCarter won the Congeniality title.

Brussels Stockyards owner Frank Ferraro says that award goes to someone who is well respected throughout the industry and is a mentor for the auctioneers just getting started.

All of the auctioneers vote on that award so Ferraro says it's special to be recognized by your peers.

The winning auctioneer was from Western Canada.

The competition was held at the Brussels Stockyards as part of the recent Livestock Auction Markets Association annual general meeting and convention in Grand Bend.

Stockyards owner Frank Ferraro says Carroll has worked hard to improve his skills, so it was nice to see him win fourth.

Ferraro says the Congeniality Award is special because it's voted by the other auctioneers.
