U-S Cattle Inventory Hits 10.8 Million Head

The number of cattle and calves on feed for slaughter in the U-S May 1st was up 1 per cent from a year ago.

Placements in April were up 7 per cent, marketings up 1 per cent from a year ago.

The USDA says the total inventory of cattle on feed May 1st was 10 point 8 million head.

The department's latest Cattle on Feed report has April's placements at 1 point 66 million head and April's marketings at 1 point 66 million head.
