Canadian Beef Export Volumes Up, Value Down

Canadian beef exports were up 5 per cent in the first three months of this year compared with the same period in 2015.

However, the value of those exports has fallen by 4 point 5 per cent.

According to Statistics Canada - Canadian beef exports to the U-S were up 7 per cent in volume, down 3 per cent in value.

Exports to Hong Kong were up 18.5 per cent in volume, down 13.4 per cent in value.

And exports to Japan were down 4 per cent in volume and up 11.6 per cent in value.

Statscan says exports to the U-S made up about 77 per cent of Canadian beef exports for the first quarter, Hong Kong 6 per cent and Japan 4 point 8 per cent.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
