U-S Corn Group Says Report Underscores Importance Of TPP

A U-S report suggests the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal would be good for American farmers.

National Corn Growers Association President Chip Bowling says the report underscores the importance of the TPP for America's farmers and ranchers.

The U-S International Trade Commission predicts an increase in American agricultural exports of 7 point 2 billion dollars.

1 point 3 billion of that would be in the form of meat exports.

Although the report suggests corn exports would decline slightly under the TPP, it points out that would be more than offset by increased domestic demand for corn as a feed source for the U-S livestock industry.

A separate analysis by the American Farm Bureau Federation predicts the TPP would raise farm incomes in the 'States by 4 point 4 billion dollars.
