PED Diagnosed At Oxford County Hog Finisher

Ontario has its first new confirmed PED diagnosis in almost a month.

The latest is on a hog finisher farm in Oxford County.

It's the 12th case this year - the 97th since the disease was first confirmed in Middlesex County in January of 2014.

Cases have been confirmed every month this year except for April.

There were 3 in January, 4 in February, 3 in March, 1 in May and now 1 so far in June.

While fatal for young pigs, PED is not considered a threat to food safety or to human health.
