Grassland Bird Habitat Funding Now Available In Ontario

A new funding program is available to encourage healthy farm habitats for bobolink and other grassland birds in Ontario.

The Grassland Stewardship Program is now accepting bids for five Best Management Practices considered critical to conserving grassland bird habitat.

Both single and multi-year projects are eligible under a couple of those BMP's.

The program is being delivered using a competitive bid process - similar to the Grassland Habitat Farm Incentive Program.

Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association President Gord Green says that process allows farmers to customize their application to fit their farm and financial needs.

Green says it also gives OSCIA assurance they are funding projects with the most beneficial impact for grassland birds.

Applications are open until August 15th for the program's second intake.

Details are on the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association's website.
