Canadian Heads Up International Ag Journalism Organisation

The Research Communications Director for the University of Guelph has become the first Canadian to lead the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists.

Owen Roberts was elected to the job at the organisation's recent 60th annual Delegate Assembly in Germany.

The IFAJ is a non-political, professional association for agricultural journalists in 46 countries.

Besides being the University's Director of Research Communications, Roberts is also a journalist, columnist and journalism and communications instructor.

He's previously served as the organisation's Secretary General and Vice President.

Lena Johansson from Sweden moves into the vice-president's position.

Steve Werblow from the U-S is the IJAC's Secretary General.

And Adrian Bell from the U-K continues his mandate as the organisation's Treasurer.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
