Thompsons One Of Few Bright Lights For The Andersons Second Quarter

Thompsons Limited's financial performance in the second quarter was steady.

It was one of the few positives in the latest financial report from The Andersons.

The agribusiness conglomerate's Grain Group posted losses of 13 million dollars in that quarter, including losses in it's other affiliate operation, the Lansing Trade Group.

Its Ethanol Group returned to profitability in that quarter while margins in The Andersons Plant Nutrient Group remained soft.

The company posted a net loss of 273 thousand dollars for the first six months of 2016.

CEO Pat Bowe blames much of the company's problems on the poor crop last fall in the Eastern U-S corn belt.
