FAO Price Indexes Up For Most Farm Production Categories

The Food and Agriculture Organization is reporting increased indexes for various ag groups.

The Dairy Price Index rose by 8.6 per cent from July to August which the organization notes is most likely due to decreased milk production in Europe.

The Vegetable Oil Price Index was also up by 7.4 per cent on the month.

The index for sugar also followed suit, up 2 and a half points to a six year high. The FAO credits a stronger dollar in Brazil for a 75 per cent index increase over the last year.

Meat saw a slight bump in Price Index of .3 per cent.

The Cereal Price Index dropped by 3 per cent from July to August, which is also down more than seven per cent from the same time last year.
