17th Annual World School Milk Day

Today is World School Milk Day.

Dairy Farmers of Canada say they'd like to take the opportunity to highlight what school milk programs have done for the health of Canadian kids.

DFC President Wally Smith says it's still relevant to provide milk in schools so children can have the energy they need to learn.

He adds the nearly 200 school days each year gives students the opportunity to make almost 200 healthy choices.

Ontario's Elementary School Milk Program is now in its 30th year.

Canada's first school milk program was implemented in Nova Scotia back in 1974.
