Mapleseed Pasture Awards Now Taking Nominations

Several agricultural organizations are teaming up to hand out the Mapleseed Pasture Awards.

The Ontario Forage Council, Beef Farmers of Ontario and the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency say now's your chance to nominate or be nominated for pasture management efforts.

They add the awards are a good way of encouraging producers to implement pasture management strategies which maximize production.

First place winners will be awarded $500 cash and another $250 to attend the BFO/OSMA annual general meeting.

Last year Maple-Dale Farms of Holstein won the Beef Pasture Award for their 200 acres of permanent pasture.

Applications for the Mapleseed Pasture Awards can be sent to the Ontario Forage Council.

The deadline for the sheep pasture award is October 1st.

Submissions for the beef pasture award will be taken until November 30th.
