CFA Meets With Transportation Minister About Grain Transportation

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture met yesterday afternoon with Minister of Transportation Marc Garneau and Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay.

CFA President Ron Bonnett says he's pleased to have finally had the chance to consult on the Canadian Transportation Act in regards to this year's bumper crop of grain.

He feels the meeting was an important step in strengthening relationships between Transport Canada and western farm groups.

CFA and its members are concerned about what they pay for shipping grain to places where it can be exported.

The federation is also pushing for the development of a long-term transportation strategy that meets agricultural requirements.
