New Risk Management Course Available For Farmers

Farmers looking for some help with managing their businesses can now turn to a new online Risk Management Course.

The module has been launched by Farm Management Canada and the Canadian Farm Learning Centre.

They say the new tool can help farmers assess risks facing them and develop a plan to seize opportunities while minimizing the possibility of negative effects.

FMC Executive Director Heather Watson says a key part of risk management is the ability to think strategically in advance.

Donavon Tofin, Founder of the Canadian Farm Learning Centre, feels increasing farm profits in the future will likely come more from farm management skills than it will from improving productivity.

He adds understanding farm structures, taxes and financial management is critical for any farm business to be successful.

The Risk Management Course includes interactive exercises as well as analysis and planning tools.
