Cattle And Pork Prices Have Seen Large Declines This Year

Statistics Canada's Farm Product Prices report shows a 6.6 per cent decrease in hog prices from August to September.

September prices average $80.02 per hundredweight, which is down 12.8 per cent from the same month in 2015.

Cattle prices averaged $119.85 in September, down from August's $133.33, and well below last year's average of $166.24.

Chicken prices increased by 2.5 per cent on the year, selling for $2.07 per kilogram in September.

The price of eggs remained the same as 2015 at $1.49 per dozen, which is actually up 2 cents from the prior month.

StatsCan also notes milk prices have increased by 1.3 per cent from a year ago.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
