Shanghai Office Set To Help Expand Pork Industry

The Canadian Pork Council and Canada Pork International went to China as part of the agricultural trade mission earlier in the month and left with a new Shanghai office.

CPC says the move demonstrates Canada's long-term commitment to the Chinese market.

The office will serve as the pork sector's focal point while it develops in the region.

Normand Martineau, a member of CPC's Board of Directors and a farmer from Quebec, joined the tour as a representative.

He says the trip was a great opportunity to see what the government is doing for the sector globally.

The council notes Canada is now the world's third largest pork producer, therefore opening up new markets is critical to the future of the industry.
