Beef Market Soft Last Week

Cattle sales at Ontario auctions were down is what was a soft market last week.

The Beef Farmers of Ontario note cull cow sales were down 591 head from the previous week and 394 less than a year ago.

Prices dipped by 94 cents on the week, coming in at an average of $62.78.

BFO also reports the amount of fed cattle sold through auctions was down 58 from the week prior.

Fed steers averaged $132.45, down $2.39 for the week.

Fed heifer prices dipped 61 cents, averaging $133.04.

Both are down more that 18 dollars from this time last year.

The farmers point out Ontario railgrade prices went against the grain, picking up another $2.50 for the week.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
