Ontario Pork Prices Higher Than A Year Ago For First Time Since July

Agriculture and Agri-food Canada report hog prices for the third week of December in Ontario were 0.7 per cent higher than they were a year earlier.

That's the first instance of an increase since July.

All other provinces report prices still negative to what they were a year ago.

AAFC also notes pork exports for 2016 are up almost 40,000 tonnes, or 5.9 per cent higher than they were in 2015.

The value of that meat is now at $3.1 million, which is a increase of almost 11 points from this time last year.
