DEKALB Announces Yield Winners

DEKALB's Seed for Yourself Yield Challenge landed corn and soybean winners from 8 different geographic zones in Eastern Canada.

John Nahuis of Elmvale was one of the winners, pulling in 76 bushel-an-acre soybeans last fall.

Dublin's Raube Beuerman averaged 72 bushels, enough to win his region.

Each victorious grower will receive a $2,000 travel voucher for their efforts.

Derek Freitag, DEKALB Canada Regional Agronomy Lead, knows the recent crop year wasn't an easy one.

He says the results from a year as tough as 2016 are proof that growers in Canada are pushing the limits by adopting new technology and agronomic practices.

The nearest corn yield winner to our area was Warren Shelton of Ingersol, with his 274 bushel-an-acre harvest.
