U of G Grateful For Nod From Advisory Council On Economic Growth

Canada's Advisory Council on Economic Growth recently released a report naming the agri-food sector as one of the nation's best for the potential to grow.

In the report, the University of Guelph was named as a key contributor to help the industry reach it's ceiling.

The university notes its $77 million Food From Thought research project is creating unique tools for producing more safe and sustainable food.

President Franco Vaccarino says the school is grateful for the report's recognition of its ability to help Canada become a global leader in food production.

He feels the nod comes as the University of Guelph is home to the nation's foremost cluster of agri-food expertise and innovation.

The report recommended Canada double its food and agriculture exports to turn the industry into a global powerhouse.
