Walkerton Farmer Contest Winner

A Walkerton farmer is one of six across the country to win in DuPont Pioneer's "Seed for a Season" contest.

Fred Waechter, of L.E. Waechter Farms, will receive up to $25,000 in Pioneer® brand products after being named one of the winners in the third and fourth rounds.

The Seed for a Season contest is aimed at providing farmers with an opportunity to invest money in a different way this year, from improving the profitability of their farm to going on a dream vacation.

The DuPont Pioneer Seed for a Season contest ran from September 2016 to March 2017, awarding 20 winners from across Ontario and Quebec a total of up to $25,000 each.

Company officials say there are plans underway for 2018 and an announcement will be made this fall.
