Swine Seminar In Shakespeare

The annual Shakespeare Swine Seminar for producers and allied industry personnel will be held at the Shakespeare Community Centre on Wednesday, September 13 in Shakespeare.

Sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs and Ontario Pork, this year’s seminar focuses on topics of current and practical interest to swine producers.

Topics will include techniques for raising low viability pigs, on-farm evaluation of semen quality, finding common ground in swine transportation, alternative methods of piglet euthanasia, and more.

Theis Hansen of Danbred International is the featured speaker.

His presentations include feeding and housing prolific sows in gestation without individual sow feeding and management tips from Danish swine producers.

Registration begins at 4:00 p.m. with presentations starting at 4:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
