Ontario Pork applauds legislation to quell on-farm protests

Ontario Pork is thanking those involved in the introduction of legislation aimed at quelling unwanted on-farm protests. In a release, Ontario Pork says while farmers and others in the livestock industry respect the right to protest, these quote-"invasions" put the safety of people, animals and the food supply at risk. The bill, called the "Security from trespass and protecting food safety act", restores balance between the high standards of animal care inherent to pork farming, and protection for farmers, transporters and others involved in food production.

They feel it gives the judicial system the tools to ensure real consequences for those that choose to break the law to disrupt farming, and food production.
