Cargill operating shifts at Guelph plant

The Cargill meat packing plant in Guelph is up and running again.

Harvest shifts started Tuesday morning.

The plant had temporarily closed on December 17.

At one point 82 workers at the plant tested positive for COVID-19 while 129 others had self-isolated.

Cargill officials are looking at resuming fabrication shifts in the new year and to reach full capacity after that.

The company states there was a full, deep clean of the facility, additional safety measures were put into place and for those returning to work, employees should be healthy and not had contact with anyone with the COVID-19 virus for 14 day before returning.
