Conservatives urge federal government to adjust plan to accommodate farmers

The federal Conservatives are calling on the government to put a rapid COVID-19 testing plan in place for international farm workers.

Lianne Rood is the Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food.

With a requirement now in place for all international travellers entering Canada to test negative for COVID-19 before boarding a flight, Rood says in a released statement that it "does nothing to reduce isolation times so workers can get our food to market".

Rood goes on to say that greenhouse vegetable producers rely on international farm workers for the growing season and vegetable growers need workers to pack crops.
