Agriculture program in Listowel highlighted on Canadian Agriculture Day

It is Canadian Agriculture Day, and to celebrate, the Avon Maitland District School Board is announcing a new program.

Students at Listowel District Secondary School in Grades 11 and 12 can now enroll in a new "Specialist High Skills Major in Agriculture".

A release from the school board says the program will reach into the community for real-world opportunities for Ag Major students to learn about agricultural technologies and practices across multiple subject areas.

John Kuepfer is the program's lead, and says Listowel is "a regional hub for one of the most productive and progressive agricultural areas in Canada", saying the program has great potential for helping to promote awareness of career opportunities that will allow those participating to remain in the community as adults.

Those interested in the program are encouraged to contact the school for more information at 519-291-1880.
