Dryer technology first of its kind in Ontario

A grain elevator near Mitchell will receive federal cash to install a high-efficiency grain dryer that will be the first of its kind in Ontario.

Van Der Burgt Grains Limited says the investment of approximately $1-million dollars will quote-"help the company scale up capacity, and meet consumer demand".

The new grain dryer will also help reduce waste, and allow V-D-B to accept higher-moisture grains than traditional dryers can handle.

The investment was one of two Ontario ventures being backed by the Federal Development bank, the other being an investment of $975,766 to Mycionics Incorporated in Putnam, east of London, to help them purchase first-in-Canada equipment to help identify harvest-ready mushrooms without damaging them.
